Why we exist

Cars pick their moment, and it’s never a Tuesday morning

The warning light comes on Saturday afternoon. The workshop is closed until Monday, and even then they can’t look at it before Tuesday. If it’s a long weekend, you’re stuck for four days with a car you don’t trust and a trip you can’t make.

We come out on Saturdays, Sundays and weekday evenings. Plug in a scanner, read the car, and give you the one answer that actually matters right now: is this car safe to drive, or does it stay where it is?

What we do at the weekend is diagnose, get you moving where we honestly can, and stop you paying for the wrong repair on Monday. Heavy repair work — parts, lift jobs, anything that needs a workshop — goes into the schedule for the next working day.

Same day, not same hour

It’s one person, one van, one set of tools. If the call before yours is someone broken down in Calpe, and you’re in Altea, you’re going to wait a couple of hours — not twenty minutes. There’s no way around that without a second van, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise.

What we can promise is honest: we tell you a realistic arrival window before we set off, and we keep it. If something changes, you get a message. What we won’t do is say «on our way» and then leave you standing by the car for the afternoon wondering where we are.

At the weekend

What we can do on the spot

The calls we get most often at weekends are the ones a scanner and a multimeter can answer in half an hour.

Read and clear fault codes

Plug in the scanner, read stored and pending codes, and explain in English what they actually mean — not just the number.

Test battery, alternator, starter

Multimeter readings with the engine off, cranking and running. Tells us whether it’s the battery, the charging system or the starter.

Jump-start and find out why it went flat

Jump-starting gets you going — but if the battery’s gone flat once, it’ll do it again. We look at whether it’s the battery or something draining it.

Decide if a warning light is driveable

Some lights mean drive carefully to a garage. Some mean do not start the engine again. We tell you which one you’re looking at.

Temporary fix to get you home

Where it’s safe to do so — a fuse, a loose connection, a hose clip — we do what we can to get you home or off a main road.

Tell you if it needs a tow

And which recovery to call. If the car shouldn’t move, we say so — and don’t charge you a diagnostic for the privilege of finding out.

What waits until Monday: heavy repair work, parts swaps, anything that needs a lift or a specialist. We’d rather tell you on Saturday what it is, than let you wait until Tuesday to find out.

Sunday triage

Warning light on a Sunday — what to do right now

Before you message anyone, look at the light. Colour matters more than the symbol.

Oil pressure or temperature (red)

Stop as soon as it’s safe. Turn the engine off and don’t restart it. Driving with either of these means damage that costs far more than the original fault.

Battery / charging light (red)

You’re running on borrowed time. The car will drive until the battery gives out — usually twenty to forty minutes. Get to somewhere safe and stop, don’t try to make it home.

Check engine — steady (amber)

Usually you can drive carefully to a garage or home. It needs diagnosis, but it’s not a stop-now light. Keep the speed down and don’t ignore it for weeks.

Check engine — flashing (amber)

Don’t drive it. A flashing check engine light usually means an active misfire, and continuing can damage the catalytic converter. Stop and call.

AdBlue with a countdown (amber)

If you’re seeing a number, the car has a limited number of starts left before it refuses to start. Don’t leave it until Monday — find a service station with AdBlue, or message us.

Green or blue lights

Information only — lights on, cruise control, indicators. Nothing to worry about. If you’re seeing a new green light and don’t know what it is, send us a photo and we’ll tell you.

If you’re not sure, send a photo of the dashboard on WhatsApp. We’ll tell you in a few minutes whether it’s a drive-it or stop-it light. No charge for looking.

Real job · Weekend call-out

A motorhome, a dead starter, and a family due to drive home

The starter motor gave up the day before they were due to set off. Every workshop was shut for the weekend.

We came out on the Saturday, confirmed it was the starter and not the battery, got the part in, and fitted it first thing Monday. The family drove home on schedule.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The ones we get every weekend.

Do you really answer on a Sunday?

Yes. Sunday hours are 10:00 to 18:00, and it’s the same person you’re messaging who comes out. Not a call centre, not a booking line for Monday. If you message on a Sunday, you get an answer on a Sunday. It might take a bit longer than on a weekday — one person, one van — but you won’t be left hanging.

Can you repair it at the weekend, or only diagnose it?

Both, depending on what it is. Diagnostic work and anything we can fix with the tools in the van — fuses, connections, battery issues, jump-starting, temporary repairs — we do at the weekend. Actual repair work that needs a lift, specific tooling or a part we don’t have, gets booked for the next working day. We tell you which one you’re looking at before we come out.

How fast can you get to me?

Same day, not same hour. If we’re free, we can be there in under an hour. If there’s a call before yours, it might be two or three. Either way, we tell you a realistic window before we set off, and we keep it. If something changes on the way, you get a message — not silence.

Is a weekend call-out more expensive?

What if I’m on a campsite?

We go to campsites regularly. Send the campsite name, the pitch number and anything the barrier needs — a code, your name on a list, whatever it is. If the reception needs to let us in, tell us that in the message and we’ll handle it when we arrive. Underground garages: tell us the height limit and we’ll confirm the van fits.
